Ma vie d’allergik

Ma Vie d’Allergik is a mobile application designed to support users in managing their respiratory allergies on a daily basis, through a personalized, educational, and engaging approach.

Client / Industry

Pharmaceutical industry — project developed in collaboration with ALK, a laboratory specialized in respiratory allergies.

Contexte

The application was created to help patients better understand, monitor, and manage their allergies outside of clinical settings, in a simple and accessible way.

Challenge

Managing respiratory allergies is often complex and inconsistent. Users face several challenges:

  • Tracking symptoms and treatments over time
  • Maintaining consistent treatment adherence
  • Accessing reliable and easy-to-understand information
  • Anticipating allergy peaks (pollen, environmental factors)

The challenge was to design a solution that is clear, intuitive, and engaging, while complying with the constraints of the healthcare industry.

Objectives

  • Simplify symptom and treatment tracking
  • Improve treatment adherence through reminders and notifications
  • Provide localized and accessible pollen data
  • Deliver clear and reliable educational content
  • Increase long-term user engagement

Process

A structured approach combining strategic analysis and field research to ground design decisions in real user insights.

  • Conducted macro-level data analysis on respiratory allergy patients in France to identify key user segments, behaviors, and tracking challenges
  • Led qualitative interviews with a panel of target users to understand their needs, pain points, and daily habits
  • Defined user profiles by cross-referencing allergy types and treatments to structure tailored user journeys
  • Designed optimized user flows based on identified needs and behaviors

These insights informed the entire design process:

  • Information architecture
  • Wireframing
  • Interactive prototyping and UI design
  • Close collaboration with technical teams to address technical constraints and ensure feasibility
  • Post-launch monitoring and continuous product improvement

Outcome

  • Successfully launched in France, Belgium, and Canada
  • Achieved 10,000+ downloads on iOS and Android
  • Increased user engagement through a combination of utility and gamification
  • Simplified the user experience for complex health tracking
  • Positive overall feedback on app stores
  • Recommended by healthcare professionals for respiratory allergy management

Behind the Design

User Research

To build a relevant and user-centered solution, I conducted both quantitative and qualitative research.

At a macro level, I analyzed data on respiratory allergy patients in France to identify key behaviors, treatment patterns, and major pain points in daily management.

At a micro level, I conducted interviews with a panel of target users to better understand their habits, frustrations, and expectations. This helped uncover critical insights around treatment adherence, lack of awareness, and the need for reassurance.

These findings allowed me to define clear user profiles, based on the combination of allergy types and treatments, and to design tailored user journeys adapted to each segment.

Information Architecture

Based on research insights, I structured the information architecture to simplify access to key features while maintaining clarity in a complex medical context.

The challenge was to balance multiple types of content — tracking, data, notifications, and educational material — within a coherent and intuitive navigation system.

I designed user flows that prioritize key actions such as symptom tracking, treatment intake, and access to pollen data, ensuring minimal friction and cognitive load.

Wireframes

Wireframes were developed to explore layout structures, content hierarchy, and interaction patterns.

The focus was on clarity, accessibility, and ease of use, especially for users managing recurring health routines.

UI Design

The interface was designed to be clean, reassuring, and accessible, in line with healthcare standards.

I developed a visual system that balances clarity and engagement, using color, typography, and spacing to guide users and reduce cognitive load.

Character Design (Mava)

To enhance engagement and create an emotional connection, I designed “Mava”, a virtual companion integrated into the app.

Mava acts as a supportive guide, delivering personalized messages, reminders, and encouragement throughout the user journey.

The character was designed to be friendly, reassuring, and accessible, contributing to both user retention and overall experience.

Illustrations for Articles

I created a set of illustrations to support educational content within the app.

The goal was to simplify complex medical information and make it more engaging and understandable for users.

The visual style was designed to be consistent with the overall product identity while remaining clear and approachable.

Video & Motion Design

I designed illustrations and visual assets for video content to support communication and user onboarding.

These assets were used to create engaging and informative videos, helping users better understand the app’s features and benefits.
